This morning, is clear, a much suited weather for trekking.
Watching people troop in with mud-clad legs gave me a slight feeling of guilt of doing nothing. Nonetheless I did not regret taking a relaxing stroll through town, enjoying scenery I couldn’t otherwise find in Singapore.
We walked a bit around the immediate vicinity, and saw that there’s something quite unique we won’t find in Singapore – people pushing their motorbikes down a special track down the stairs.
Our morning ended fairly quickly.
We took a sleeper bus back to Hanoi (around S$12/pax on Klook “Sapa Express”). Bunk beds lined the bus in three columns down the bus, with a small toilet (did not use) and three beds side by side at the end of the bus. Each bed comes with a blanket, so no worries on the air-conditioner being too cold. The company also provided bottled water and a pack of nuts. Footwear off on board, so if you’re icky on stuffing your feet where other feet might have been, you may want to pack socks.
The route ran parallel to the Red River, and was pretty uneventful. I watched the sun set in between sleep…
There were two stops: a toilet break around 1.5 hours after the trip started, and a 30-min dinner break around 1hr before reaching Hanoi.
We reached Hanoi past 10pm, ahead of the schedule. At the drop off points were several hotels within walking distance. We booked the La Selva Hanoi Hotel, which was quite decent, except for the air-conditioning which was not helping with the insanely hot weather. There is a mini mart and some eateries in the vicinity if you need to pick up supplies and have munchies.
Day 3 ended with dreams of a cooler place…
