I will never fly Asiana Airlines again.
If someone had told me that there was no USB port, and the flying experience was going to be 6.5 hours of boredom and irritation which 1 minute felt like 5, I would have not considered it at all.
Out of said boredom, I wrote a log using my phone instead.
* Time is based on Singapore hours
0400 The ships on the sea with lights look like lanterns floating down the river. Tanabata.
(Afternote: I was wrong. The specific scene I was referencing to is when the lanterns are floated down the river is for an event called Tōrō Nagashi (灯籠流し) )
0430 Why are the windows closed?
(Afternote: We were asked to shut the windows)
0445 Wait, there’s no inflight entertainment or charging points? Really?
0500 Person in front pls stop moving. The chair won’t go down further anyways
0555 ok, light won’t switch off, what gives
0610 i wonder if business class has usb charging and can i change to it…light is finally switched offable
0625 oh hello, apparently there’s inflight entertainment after all.
(Note: with very limited options)
0730 I’m sleepy but I can’t sleep. I want to hear some music but I’m afraid my hp will run out of juice. 😭 Halfway day tho! Ganbarimasu!
0743 oh there’s a music channel. Is there a bts? No, there isn’t! Petition to have BTS in the list 😦
0745 Hi Eric Nam, did you know that your music is in the music channel?
0758 listening to Eric Nam’s Lose You. Personally, I will not tolerate the protagonist’s now nonsense 😅
0808 finished eric nam’s album. 2 hours to go? I think it’s safe to play my own music now.
(Note: Google Keep, the app I was using to log, uses less battery than apple music because I didn’t keep it open)
0830 Breakfast is served.
0955 sleepy. Back dying.
Conclusion: Never again shall I complain about SQ.
Thoughts:
Food was OK. I don’t eat chicken so I ate the carbs instead. The meal was only served once, two hours before landing. There were no snacks so be prepared to get your own. Water and orange juice was free-flow tho I’d caution against drinking too much during flight – plane toilets are never fun.
Seats – where do I even begin? 3-4-3 is not fun, especially when you’re seated beside strangers and you don’t want to annoy them in the middle of red-eye flight to go to toilet while they are sleeping. It is also not fun when the person sitting in front of you push the chair all the way down, and keep moving about. Sis, I know you’re uncomfortable, but you don’t need to make me even more uncomfortable than I already am.
In-flight entertainment system – it does not boost one’s confidence in the safety of the flight when you keep seeing ms-dos prompt popping up on the screen, or when the system does not respond when you are using the controller to switch the light off.
USB point (lack thereof) – OMG. Just OMG.
One of the pros about flying Asiana Airlines is that the immigration counter wasn’t very far away. Another, business class people are boarded through another door, so unlike Malaysian Airlines (at least for the flights I’ve been on), 120 people do not troop past you for boarding. Service-wise, they’re pretty on point. I like that they put effort into details such as changing the outfit during flight (food) service, though I thought it was kind of unnecessary.
