Terengganu Day 4 – Shopping (Again)

A few other shopping places:

1. Bus Terminal Market

A couple of streets away from the hotel is the bus terminal. Rather than town buses, these run interstate, and even with buses coming to and fro Singapore. The bus terminal has a small clean canteen of sorts on the ground floor and a dry market selling all sorts of scarfs and shirts above. A word of caution, the passages are on the narrow side, so if you are claustrophobic, you might be uncomfortable.

Chicken rice from the canteen. It tastes like nasi lemak with chicken.

2. Desa Murni Batik

Another place where you can hit up for fabrics would be Desa Murni Batik located at somewhere slightly off Kuala Terengganu (sorry, have no idea where but here’s a map).

The building actually houses 2 stores.

The Gallery has silk and so on, but the thing that I would really recommend getting would be the men’s shirts there. They’re comfy and unique, and priced reasonably.

The fabric store next door has a pretty decent range of fabrics. Unlike the Gallery, they stock types other than silk and batik. You pick a bolt and let the sales assistant know how much fabric you want. It reminds me of Spotlight.

The place also stocks shelves of instant shawl for really cheap. So go crazy.
